 NEET Final Answer Key 2023

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has now released the final Answer Key for NEET UG 2023. In this article we will talk about differences between the two answer keys.

NTA NEET Provisional Answer Key vs. Final Answer Key: Understanding the Difference

NEET Final Answer Key 2023

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) is a crucial examination for aspiring medical students in India.

Each year, millions of candidates appear for this highly competitive exam, aiming to secure a seat in esteemed medical colleges across the country.

The NTA releases both provisional and final answer keys for NEET, each serving its purpose in the evaluation process.

Understanding the distinction between these two answer keys is essential for the candidates, as it can significantly impact their scores and subsequent admissions.

PROVISIONAL ANSWER KEY

The provisional answer key, released shortly after the completion of the examination, plays a vital role in providing immediate feedback to the students.

It serves as a preliminary guideline, allowing candidates to evaluate their performance and estimate their scores.

The provisional answer key is made available online, and candidates can cross-check their answers against it. This process enables them to identify any discrepancies, errors, or objections they may have regarding the answers provided.

OBJECTION AND CORRECTION PERIOD

Students are given a specified window to raise objections or challenge the provisional key, providing relevant justifications and supporting documents.

Once the objection period concludes, the NTA meticulously reviews all the challenges raised by the candidates. Subject matter experts and a panel of professors assess each objection thoroughly and make necessary corrections, if required.

This evaluation process ensures the accuracy and fairness of the final answer key. After considering all valid objections, the NTA prepares the final answer key, incorporating the necessary amendments.

FINAL ANSWER KEY

The final answer key, considered authoritative, is then released by the NTA. It represents the accurate and verified responses to the NEET examination.

Unlike the provisional answer key, the final version cannot be challenged or objected to by the candidates. It acts as the ultimate reference point for evaluating the candidates' performance and determining their scores.

The final answer key is used to calculate the raw marks obtained by each student in the NEET examination.

HOW TO CALCULATE MARKS

To calculate their marks, candidates must follow a specific scheme provided by the NTA.

THE MARKING SCHEME

The marking scheme for NEET is relatively straightforward.

1.) Each correct answer is awarded four marks,

2.) An incorrect response incurs a deduction of one mark.

3.) Unanswered questions do not carry any positive or negative marks.

By applying this scheme, candidates can calculate their raw scores by multiplying the number of correct answers by four and subtracting the total number of incorrect responses.

NOTE: - It is important to note that the raw scores obtained from the final answer key are not equivalent to the final NEET scores.

The raw scores are subject to human error and other mistakes. But the final NEET score is a standard result.

The raw scores will also be subjected to normalization process depending upon variation and difference in complexities level of the exams conducted on different dates to ensure a fair assessment.
As this year NEET took place at different date in Manipur.

Also, the respective ranks of the individual candidates can only be known after the results are declared.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the provisional answer key and final answer key in NTA NEET serve different purposes in the evaluation process.

While the provisional key provides immediate feedback and an opportunity to challenge discrepancies, the final key is the authoritative reference for determining the scores.

Candidates must understand and follow the marking scheme provided by the NTA to calculate their raw scores accurately.
The normalization process further ensures fairness in the assessment.

By comprehending these aspects, aspiring medical students can better navigate the NEET evaluation process and gain a clearer understanding of their performance.
